2nd Year Master’s Students of Uganda Technology and Management this week defended their research proposals.
Fr. Odubuker Picho Epiphany defending his research proposal
Students who appeared before a panel of seven distinguished scholars presented their research problems, research designs, literature review and methodology among other areas of research.
According to the one of the panelists, the proposal defense gives an assurance to academicians and the public that the plan of research is complete and holds academic merit.
“The purpose of the research proposal is to demonstrate that a student has the ability and maturity to identify a gap or need in society, generate a course of action by following research processes and execute a piece of original research”, Mr. Omvia Denis acknowledged.
As part of the academic process at UTAMU, students are assigned supervisors with whom they work closely during the entire research process. During proposal defense, the candidate introduces themselves and presents a summary of their work. The panelists later ask questions and seek clarification on areas the researcher didn’t provide in-depth information.
Once the proposal has been defended and accepted, the candidates are then cleared to work on writing the dissertation.
The panelists included Dr. Doris Kakuru, Dean School of Business and Management, Dennis Omvia, Dan Ayebare and Faith Ainebyoona all lecturers at UTAMU.
