This week on Tuesday, the UTAMU Guild Government held its 2nd annual Guild General assembly where students were called upon to embrace youth empowerment.

The General assembly was organised under a theme: ‘Effective youth leadership and empowerment towards a prosperous future.’
Mr Ivan Otim, the Guest Speaker at the assembly called upon students to take on the lead by seeing opportunities in the current challenges being faced by the youth, come up with solutions to address the same challenges like unemployment through the skills and knowledge acquired at UTAMU.
“All of us can become better if we are empowered. With empowerment, we can deliver a change in our communities,” said Otim.
He further called upon the student leaders to continue their leadership even after university if they really want to make a change in the communities.
Speaking to the students, the UTAMU Guild President, Sadat Anwar emphasized the importance of teamwork “as a tool of effective change.”
“Team work brings great development and is essential if you want to see changes in future,” said Sadat.
He further commended the Guild Government team for rendering him support and thanked the previous government for mentoring him and his team.
After the assembly, the students and guests were treated with tea and coffee.
