UTAMU Student among 12 Uganda’s Best Teachers to Fly to Ireland

A student at Uganda Technology and Management University (UTAMU) is among the five of the twelve best teachers in the Teachers Making a Difference competition that have been rewarded with an all-expense paid trip to the Republic of Ireland.

Emmanuel Angoda is a teacher and Head of ICT at Lira Town College in Lira district. He will be flown to Ireland alongside other teachers who nclude, Godfrey Arims (Lemusu Primary School in Nakapiripirit), Martin Kananura (Mbarara Municipal School), Prossy Muyinda (Victoria Junior School in Namutumba district) and Mary-Gorreti Akwi (Nakivale SS in Isingiro district).

The 12 winners were each awarded certificates, plaques and a cash prize of sh1.5m each.

This is the sixth edition of the Teachers Making a Difference competition. So far, 50 teachers have been awarded.

The campaign is part of the Ugandans Making a Difference project initiated by New Vision in 2008.

The project aims to recognise and reward those teachers who have innovatively used limited resources to make a positive impact on their communities.
