Uganda Cranes Vs Congo Brazzaville – Mandela National Stadium

Uganda Cranes head coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic has time over and again repeated himself; “One international friendly match is far more effective than five training sessions.”

From the basis of his argument, the Serbian uses such friendlies to critically assess players’ mental and physical readiness ahead of big competitive matches.

Upon return from Ghana where the team registered a goalless draw in Tamale, Micho remains non-committal but showed there is a plan to have a friendly in the pipe-line;

There have been similar friendly in Zimbabwe (before Botswana), Malawi (before CHAN qualifier) and Kenya (before the Comoros match) that have all acted to awaken the body chemistry of the players ahead of competitive matches.

Also, the technical bench uses such matches to test the various playing combinations and match fitness of players.
