Mtabazi who completed a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science is currently working with ‘She Codes for Change’, an organization based in Tanzania whose mandate is to inspire, encourage and motivate young minds to leverage technology as a creative outlet to providing solutions to their surrounding communities.

“I am the Innovations Lead and Program manager and my work is to translate both products and technology leads into early stage innovation projects, utilizing a consumer research and designing approach in partnership with my team and development partners.

Mtabazi also drives product/technology scoping, technical Intellectual Property evaluation, and third party investigation of academic and industrial sectors.

While at University, Mtabazi worked on a startup called SheriApp - a legal information application which provides free legal information citizens who need professional, quick and reliable legal advice.

“Studying at UTAMU gave me the mentorship, skills and flexibility to work hard in order to excel. I am indebted to UTAMU for problem solving skills using ICT, critical thinking, project planning and most importantly communication skills and computer science knowledge. No doubt, my current progress and my current position are attributed to being proactive as well as mentors I had at UTAMU”.

Simon believes that his career is on a progressive pathway as he continues to learn and work on more projects and innovations that target girls and women between 12 -35 years.

“I lead a team of six people and empower hundreds of young girls and women in Tanzania using STEAM education. ‘She Codes for Change’ empowers girls and women with STEAM education to enable them to be competitive in an ecosystem that hasn't been inclusive and supportive for a long time.
