Dr. Doris M. Kakuru

Dr. Doris M. Kakuru is the Dean of the School of Business and Management at Uganda Technology And Management University (UTAMU).
Dr. Doris is a seasoned Social Scientist with a strong background in Sociology and Social Anthropology.
She holds a PhD in Social Sciences from Wageningen University and Research Centre (The Netherlands), a Master of Philosophy degree in Social Anthropology from the University of Bergen (Norway), and a Bachelor of Arts (Sociology) from Makerere University (Uganda).
She has 15 years university teaching and research experience. Her key areas of specialization are Childhood Sociology and Sociology of Education.
Over the years she has conducted research and published extensively in various areas but focusing on education and development. She is an experienced consultant in multidisciplinary social research project design and implementation in the following areas.
- Educational research including school participation and retention, teacher competence and effectiveness, gender equality, impact of household livelihood issues and cultural on education
- Childhood and youth studies
- Family and livelihood studies
- Health policy and systems research
- Gender and Development
