Drake Patrick Mirembe(PhD)
Drake Patrick Mirembe holds a PhD in information system from the University of Groningen, the Netherlands. Before pursing his doctorate he run a dual-career working both in the industry and in the academia. In the industry Drake has worked with a number of organisations both public and private, local and international including Microsoft Corporation as Manager, Microsoft Innovation Centre Uganda and The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) as chair for ITU centres of excellence for Africa. Eight Tech Consults (www.8technologies.net) as a software developer, network administrator, IT systems security analyst, Innovations Manager, and Senior ICT Consultant. In academia he works with Uganda Technology and Management University (UTAMU) as a lecturer. He has co-authored a number of publications in the areas of system security in international forums. His research interests include; Cyber Security, ICT4D, mobile computing, innovations and entrepreneurship acceleration. Drake has been responsible (as a mentor) for a number of ground breaking innovations in ICT field in Uganda including Winsenga (http://www.microsoft.com/about/corporatecitizenship/en-us/youthspark/spotlight/cipher/) and Matibabu mobile apps (http://www.maketechx.com/matibabu-how-a-smartphone-app-and-one-engaged-team-could-fight-malaria/). He has worked with a number of development partners to deploy ICT solutions like the monitoring of teacher and student attendance in schools by the Economic Policy Research Centre (EPRC), monitoring of 2011 general elections using ICTs with Transparency International among others.
She is the administrator for the Center for Innovation and Business Incubation at UTAMU. Linda is the front-line contact for all activities in the CIBI.
