About the Institute of Public Health and Health Sciences at UTAMU

The Institute of Public Health and Health Sciences (IPHHS), at UTAMU is purely research institute that stimulates, inspires and educates.

At IPHHS, we aim to accelerate research and innovation at the interface of public health and medicine with measurable improvements for patients and populations. This is achieved by playing an instrumental role in connecting high impact collaborators. The research priority areas include Public Health, Infectious Diseases, Nursing, Noncommunicable Diseases, Neuroscience and Mental Health.

IPHHS focus is to improve and protect community health and well-being of all citizens. We identify the causes of disease and injury, and we implement large-scale sustainable solutions.

The Institute of Public Health and Health Sciences at UTAMU invites applications from suitably qualified applicants for the positions of Associate Research Fellow, Research Fellow, Senior Researcher, Associate Research Professor and Research Professor.  These are 100% research positions. Each of these positions will initially be taken in adjunct capacity and each researcher shall be required to put in a minimum of 20% of fulltime workload i.e., a minimum of one working day per week and the remuneration shall be based on the time input per month.

Senior Researcher 2 PhD in Public Health or Master’s degree in a Clinical Discipline related to Public Health 10 peer previewed publications; Evidence of supervision of five (5) graduate students to completion; and evidence of winning a research grant of at least USD 100,000.
Research Fellow 2 Master’s degree in Public Health or related disciplines Two (2) peer previewed publications; and Evidence of winning a research grant will be an added advantage.
Associate Research Fellow 4 Master’s degree in Public Health or related disciplines Evidence of research grant writing skills and training in research management will be an added advantage.
2 Infectious Diseases Research Professor 1 PhD in disciplines related to i nfectious diseases 30 peer reviewed publications; Supervision of at least twenty (20) graduate students to completion and of which at least five (5) of should be PhD students; Evidence of raising at least USD 1,000,000 in research grants; and evidence of having served as Principal Investigator for at least two (2) Research Grants.
