UTAMU Students Compete at 2019 African Grand Challenge in TZ

Four students have represented the university at the African Grand Challenge taking place in Arusha, Tanzania.

The annual African Grand Challenge is running from 24th to 27th January 2019 at The Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology, in Arusha, Tanzania.

Students will come up with innovative technologies in products and services to answer the following question; “how emerging technology could improve food security in Africa and its resulting impact on the health of women and their families.”

The  main  objective  of  the  competition  is  to  innovate for  Africa,  to  collaborate  and  learn  together  and  to foster multi-level partnerships for sustainable futures.

The students representing UTAMU are Morgan Lucky Kiconco, Jean Amukwatse, Denise Nsubuga and Deus Agaba. The winners of the competition will go home with USD 5,000 (first prize) 3,000 (Second prize, USD 2,000 (Third prize) and USD 1,000 (fourth prize).
