The Rotaract Club of Uganda Technology and Management University (RUTAMU) gave back to the community by refurbishing the library of Bukasa Nursery and Primary School in Muyenga with new furniture.

On 21st of September, the Club under their theme “basic education and literacy” designed for the month of September, the rotaractors set out to do a library refurbishment at the school as one of the planned different activities.

“One of the objectives for this project was to provide  shelves, chairs and tables to be used in the library of Bukasa Primary School which has a population of about 800 pupils,” says Ms. Diana Nanyonjo, the Club President.

The rotaractors also provided literacy sessions about child abuse to the pupils led by a team from Sauti under the Ministry Of Gender, Labor and Social Development. The children were educated on their rights as children and taken through the process of reporting a child abuse case, which was demonstrated by calling 116 (a toll free line).

Eunice Ainembabazi, the Club’s Community Service Director says executing that project made them realize that to make more impact in the communities; they need more partnerships and sponsorships.
