Certificate in Computer Applications and Digital Workplace Skills

Digital competence is now a basic requirement for employment, entrepreneurship, administration, education, communication and participation in modern society. Yet many community members have had limited opportunities to acquire practical digital skills, while conventional computer courses often remain focused on basic theory or isolated software packages. Contemporary work and everyday life require people to create documents, analyse information, communicate online, collaborate in shared files, use cloud services, participate in virtual meetings, protect digital information and use artificial intelligence responsibly.

Career Prospects

The Certificate in Computer Applications & Digital Workplace Skills is therefore designed as an inclusive, practical two-month community digital-skills programme. It is open to participants regardless of previous academic qualifications and moves beyond the traditional 'Introduction to Computers' model by integrating computer essentials, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Workspace, professional email, cloud storage, online meetings, digital collaboration, cybersecurity and AI productivity. Participants shall learn by doing and shall produce a portfolio of useful digital outputs for work, business and everyday life.

Target Participants

  • Community members, including persons with or without formal academic qualifications, who wish to acquire practical digital skills.
  • Administrative assistants, office staff, receptionists and customer-service personnel.

  • Teachers, trainers and community workers who need modern office and collaboration skills.

Programme Objectives

The programme aims to equip participants with practical, current and transferable computer application and digital workplace skills required for productive, secure and collaborative work in modern organisations and businesses.
