UTAMU Holds Guild Handover Ceremony Ahead of New Academic Year

Uganda Technology and Management University (UTAMU) today held its annual Guild Handover Ceremony, marking the official transition of student leadership. The event, which took place at the UTAMU Kungu Campus, saw the outgoing Vice Guild President, Ms. Angella Kamukama hand over the mantle to Mr. Mayanja Abdul Karim, who will lead the student body for the 2024/2025 academic year.

In her farewell speech, Ms. Kamukama reflected on the achievements of her tenure, highlighting efforts in student welfare, academic advocacy, and co-curricular engagements. She expressed gratitude to her team and the student community for their unwavering support.

On assuming office, Mr. Mayanja Abdul pledged to build upon the foundation set by his predecessor, focusing on inclusivity, academic excellence, and innovation. He called for unity among students and reiterated his commitment to enhancing student engagement within the university.

Speaking at the event, the Student Affairs Officer, Ms. Elizabeth Basemera, commended the outgoing leadership for their dedication and urged the new guild team to uphold UTAMU’s values. “Student leadership plays a critical role in shaping the university experience. We trust that the new leaders will work towards the betterment of UTAMU,” she stated.
