UTAMU Law Society

The UTAMU Law Society, officially known as the Law Society of Universal Technology and Management University, is the representative body of law students at UTAMU. The Society exists to unite law students under one organized platform through which their academic, professional, leadership, and welfare interests can be promoted and protected.

Inspired by the values of justice, integrity, leadership, service, inclusiveness, and respect for the rule of law, the UTAMU Law Society seeks to contribute to the growth of responsible, ethical, and competent future legal professionals. It provides a forum where law students can engage in academic dialogue, legal research, policy debates, moot court activities, legal aid initiatives, community outreach, and networking with the wider legal fraternity.

The Society also serves as a bridge between law students, the School of Law, university administration, alumni, legal practitioners, civil society, and other relevant institutions. Through its activities, the UTAMU Law Society promotes academic excellence, practical legal skills, student welfare, civic responsibility, and access to justice.

Mission

To represent, empower, and support law students at Universal Technology and Management University by promoting academic excellence, legal research, professional development, ethical leadership, student welfare, practical legal training, and community-based legal service.

Purpose of the Society

The UTAMU Law Society exists to promote the collective interests of law students and to complement the academic and professional mandate of the School of Law. It advocates for students’ academic and welfare needs, supports co-curricular and extracurricular activities, and creates opportunities for students to develop practical legal skills through moot courts, legal aid clinics, debates, symposia, and public dialogues.

Through these initiatives, the Society aims to produce law students who are not only academically competent but also ethical, confident, socially conscious, and ready to contribute meaningfully to the legal profession and society at large.

The Constitution of the UTAMU Law society serves as the foundational governing document that establishes the framework, structure and operations of the law society within the University. It sets out the rules, rights and responsibilities that guide the society’s activities and its members.
