The Bachelor’s Degree program in Oil and Gas Management is intended to offer students appropriate business and leadership knowledge, skills and competencies required for the efficient functioning of the oil and gas industry. This course is designed for students who are interested in pursuing a career in oil and gas management. The students will be taken through comparative cases in managing this resource which will sharpen their management proficiency.
This course will give many Ugandans an opportunity to study oil and Gas management courses without spending millions of dollars abroad pursuing oil and gas management courses.

Programme Objectives
The Bachelor’s degree in Oil and Gas Management is designed to enable learners acquire knowledge, and apply the knowledge to understanding of the oil and gas management sector. The curriculum equips students with theoretical and practical knowledge, investigative and analytical skills, and the understanding of the business and management processes necessary to develop a career in the Oil & Gas industry. The program has both an academic and market orientation. Thus, it is targeting students that intend to pursue post-graduate studies, as well as those that will enter the job market after graduation.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this program, students will be able to:-
- Utilize knowledge and understanding on conventional business administration subjects such as general accounting, economics, management, marketing, business law and finance etc to oil and gas sector.
Effectively manage both the upstream and downstream activities in the oil and gas sector. - Demonstrate the application of key management and administrative competences for the oil and gas sector within the context of today's changing environment.
- Demonstrate skills of selecting organization-wide strategies that will increase their effectiveness as functional managers and strategic thinkers for the nascent oil and gas sector in Uganda and the region.
- Demonstrate a good understanding of transmitting knowledge to other members of society about the need to live in harmony with the natural resources like oil and gas.
- Exhibit such skills that are required on negotiation, operations management, oil & gas accounting and project management for the energy sector.
- Display knowledge and understanding in the area of law relating to oil & gas, environment and the law of the seas.
- Manage one’s own learning and development, including time management and organizational skills in order to plan and implement a major independent project.
Admission Requirements
Students will be admitted to the Bachelor Oil and Gas Management through three avenues: Direct Entry, Mature Entry and Diploma Entry.
Direct Entry Scheme
Candidates seeking admission through the direct entry shall require the following:
- At least two principal passes at same sitting in Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) or its equivalent.
- At least five passes at the same sitting in Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) or its equivalent.
Diploma Holders Scheme
- Applicants should possess at least a lower division Diploma in Science, Business Administration, IT, Statistics, public administration, law, finance, Economics or any other related field from a recognized institution.
- At least five passes at the same sitting in Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) or its equivalent.
Mature Age Entry Scheme
For admission under mature age, a candidate must have sat and passed the university mature age entry examinations from a recognized centre. To sit for university mature age, the candidate must have age of at least 25 years.
Program Duration
The program will extend over a period of three academic years. An academic year shall consist of two semesters and one recess term. A semester shall consist of 15 weeks of lectures. A recess term shall consist of 10 weeks.
