Career Prospects

The goal of the programme is to train and develop participants with a thorough knowledge of the legal, ethical, institutional, economic, technological and political environments of modern public administrators. Participants who undertake this programme will be equipped with theoretical and practical skills in administrative functions of local and central governmental agencies, private and NGO sectors and will gain special expertise in strategic planning, advanced management techniques, public program implementation and results-based leadership.

Programme Objectives

The programme is aimed at the all-round education, acquiring academic expertise and competences that are typical of functioning in the domain of administration in the public sector and at preparing for any further academic studies at master's level in the domains of administration, policy and management. The programme has the objective to enhance students’ theoretical, conceptual and practical understanding of:

1. Understand ways of nurturing good governance and effective leadership.
2. Examine the role of public administration and management in a changing environment.
3. Asses the different contexts of Policy design, policy implementation and policy impact.
4. Understand the relevance of financial management, information and knowledge management, human resource management.

The programme also aims to equip students with competencies and skills to:

1. Be effective administrators and managers.
2. Deal with the huddles that stand on the way of administrative efficiency.
3. Engage in effective communication.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the programme, participants will be able to:

• Effectively manage the human, financial and material resources of public sector as well as other organizations.
• Apply the best public administration skills and best practices in delivery public services at any level of administrative jurisdiction.
• Mobilize resources for public, private and NGO sector programmes and conduct effective Monitoring and evaluation of these programmes.

Admission Requirements

The admission requirements comprise any of the following:

• A Bachelor’s degree in any field or its equivalent from a recognized institution;

OR

• A professional qualification equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized professional body.

Program Duration

The program will extend over a period of one academic year. An academic year shall consist of two semesters and one recess term. A semester shall consist of 15 weeks of lectures. A recess term shall consist of 10 weeks.

The PGD in PA programme is proposed to have the following courses offered within two semesters;

International students pay international student tuition fees which is rated in dollars and this specifically covers only the cost of teaching and many student support services. This tuition below is per academic session and includes both the tuition and functional fees.
