The Stars Shine Bright For UTAMU Guild President: H. E. Patrick Mark Kayizzi Njuki

H. E. Patrick Kayizzi Guild President, UTAMU Student of Computer Science in the School of Computing & Engineering

2019 is the year when the stars began to shine bright in my academic life. That year begun my journey of leadership that today I am proud to be the Guild President of Uganda Technology and Management University (UTAMU) for the year 2021 to 2022. His Excellency is my honourable title! I represent the student body together with my Guild Cabinet in addressing student affairs.

I am a student offering a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science at the School of Computing and Engineering, in my year 3 of study. I was inspired to join UTAMU through the guidance of my mother…as it is often said “mother knows best” so it was in my life at the time. A member of the Rotary Club of Kampala East was a dear friend of hers, this friend was a student at UTAMU and it is through her friend’s study experience that mum strongly believed that UTAMU was the place for me. I have not regretted this decision and since my joining I continue to grow in shaping my future path. My plan is to become an expert in Computer Security and Forensic which I intend to study at masters from UTAMU again. My Bachelor’s programme in Computer Science is part of the bigger dream to achieving this expertise. That’s why I love UTAMU because it’s only from here that I can be able to fulfill my desire of being a Computer Security and Forensic Expert. UTAMU is the pioneer of this programme, if not the only university that teaches and trains in the programme of Computer Security and Forensics.

I am also proud to be a student at this soon to be MIT of Africa because it opened and has firmed my doors of leadership. Being a university that drives critical thinking and practical application, I have learned to be a leader and not a follower. My leadership promises continuity of better and finer things not only for me but for UTAMU too because no matter my walks in life, I will remain an ALUMNI of this great and mighty university UTAMU. For most of my leadership, I have been an online Guild President linking students to management virtually because of the lockdowns as a result of the covid-19 pandemic. I have loved the growth in practicing virtual leadership…..Where else would I have experienced this kind of leadership other than at UTAMU! It is for a greater part an online university whose activities are not hindered by world events that render most parts of the world still.

I would like to voice out an encouragement to all my fellow students to never cease doing good works for UTAMU because a broom is only strong when it’s in a bunch and it is only weak when one stick is broken off. All I am seeking is that we as students remain a team just as a broom is used to sweep a compound…… a lighting candle does not lose any light when used to light other candles. Invite your fellow brothers and sisters to join the home of promise in technology advancement “UTAMU” so that our broom will always remain strong and firm in the promises of meeting the needs of the 21st century in this 4th Industrial revolutionary era.

FOR AN OPEN MIND
